Vincent "Vinny" Edward Engbretson

Vincent Edward Engbretson passed peacefully at his home December 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. Never one to complain and always meeing life with quiet strength, Vinny remained positive through it all.
Born on June 5, 1959 in Astoria, OR to Glennwood and Barbara Engbretson.
Vince spent his childhood in Jewell, on the elk refuge until age ten. He later spend 2 formative years over seas, attending boarding school while his parents were in the Peace Corps. He completed junior high in Corvallis then moved to Ridgefield, Washington for one year before returning to Astoria High, where he graduated with the class of 1977.
Hardworking and dedicated, Vinny spent 45 years in the logging industry and 37 years commercial fishing, a profession that became both livelihood and passion. He was a lifelong outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, and sharing time with family and friends. Known for his selflessness and a kind hearted nature, Vinny never hesitated to go the extra mile for anyone who needed a hand.
Vince is survived by his wife Marlyce, his children, Chelsea (and Fiancee Tyler), Andrew and (his wife Amber), and his treasured grandchildren Carson, Adelynn and Robbie. He also leaves behind his brother Steve (and Linda) Engbretson, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara and brother Brian Engbretson.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 20, 2025, from 1:00-4:00p.m. at the Netel Grange. Vinny's legacy of hard work, generosity, and quiet strength will be carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
