Ronald Daniel Danen was born in Mankato, Minnesota, to Edmon Hultengren and Eunice Wilkes. He was one of six children.
At the age of 16, Ron joined the U.S. Army and eventually was sent to Korea to fight during the Korean War. While there he developed a deep respect for the Korean people. The Korean people appreciate Ron so much, in their eyes and hearts he saved their country.
He married and divorced twice prior to meeting the love of his life, Chong Im Ye. They married in December of 1990 and shared a deep and a biding love.
Ron worked many jobs - as a mechanic, a commercial fisherman at Reynold Metals. In 1981 he was in a devastating car wreck with a drunk driver with a drunk driver, and this ended his working career. Later in life Ron and Chong operated an adult foster home and when they retired, they joined the Senior Center where they spent their days enjoying the people and activities, and Ron especially enjoyed the Thursday evening music group.
With Chong, Ron made many trips to her native land or Korea. These trips meant the world to him. and he was able to share these experiences with two of his children.
Ron was a wonderful dad to his children, and he was so proud of them all.
Ron had five children with his first wife: Steven Hultengren, (Anita) Terry Hultengren, Dan Hultengren, Cheryl Bushenell (Roy), Christopher Hultengren (Connie). With his second wife came two children, Cindy Johnson (John) and Peter Danen. They went on to have two more children, Shannon Danen (Katie) and Jeremy Danen (Deana).
He had 18 grandchildren, Amy Hultengren (Steve), Tracy Martin (Mike), Ann Grimes (Thor), Nicole Mathieson (Mike), Laura Peterson (Michal), Andrew Bushnell, Katie Boone (Casey), Kelley Praxyl (AJ), Andy Hultengren, Melissa Goglin (Chantz), Stephen Johnson (Kelly), Zachary Johnson (Hannah), Aklssa Danen, Abi Danen (Trevan), Ryan Weiss (Erica), Bejamin Huink, Jessica Rah (Doug), Tina Olsen, RJ, and many great grand children.
Ron's life was a legacy of love for his family. He was so happy to have been able to celebrate his 92nd birthday with most of his children and many friends. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. We miss him beyond words.
