Richard Thomas Vetricek

Richard Thomas Vetricek of Warrenton, Oregon, passed away in Portland, Oregon, on December 27th, 2025. He was born April 25th, 1938, in Santa Rosa California, to Joseph and Louise Morvak-Vetricek, along with his twin sister, Marion. They both were raised in Guerneville, California. After graduating from Analy High School in Sabastopol, California, he went on to join the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Roanoke as an electrician. His time in the Navy brought him to Astoria, where he met his first wife, Delores Corder, they later divorced. In 1984, he married Michaele (Mike) Sherwood-Nichols. He retired as a longshoreman from ILWU Local 50 after many years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, was a master of woodworking-making rocking chairs, horses, toys and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Michaele, his twin sister Marion Rose, his children Denise Leach (Adam), Richard Vetricek (Lora), Dean Vetricek (Evie), Tara Mestrich (Bryan), stepchildren Heather Nichols, Sean Nichols (Kandace), and numerous grand children and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at Caldwell-Murphy Mortuary in Astoria, Oregon January 2, at 10am. Graveside services will be held at Oceanview Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon following the memorial service at Caldwell-Murphy Mortuary. Following the burial, a celebration of life will be held at the ILWU Local 50 Union Hall at 491 Industry Street, Astoria, Oregon. People are encouraged to donate to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
