Gary Richard Towne

Gary Richard Towne passed away peacefully at Clatsop Care Memory Community in Warrenton on June 30 after a short illness.


Gary was born in Astoria to William and Marian Towne. He attended Astoria schools and graduated from Astoria High School.

He is survived by his brothers, Dennis Towne (Penny), of Wilsonville, and David Towne (Patricia), of Portland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steven Towne and Craig Towne.
He married Pamela Tillson on Oct. 7, 1972. They later divorced, but remained dear friends for the rest of his life.

Gary had many skills, and was employed as a forest ranger for the U.S. Forest Service. He also worked as a logger and fisherman in his early days. He was a custodian for the Astoria School District and later retired as a park ranger for Oregon State Parks.

At his request, there will be no service.
