Warrenton, Oregon - Douglas Gerald Sauvageau was born August 10, 1955 to Gerald and Rita Sauvageau in Stillwater, Minnesota and died September 10, 2025 in Warrenton, Oregon.

Doug attended schools in Portland, Oregon, graduating from James Madison High School in 1973. In 1977, he joined the Air National Guard at the Portland Air Base, assigned to the 244th Combat Communications Flight. His technical training was in ground radio maintenance. In 1981, the Guard unit was deployed to Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. This is where he met his future wife, Vicki, who was also a member of the Guard unit. After their return to Portland, Doug and Vicki began dating. They were married August 28, 1982 at St. Rita Church.

Doug's civilian job took him and Vicki to Eugene, Oregon where their first son, Andrew, was born in 1983. The following year, they returned to Portland, and he was hired as a full-time technician for the 116th Air Control Squadron. Their second son, Nathan, was born in 1985.

The 116th Air Control Squadron was relocated to Camp Rilea, Warrenton, Oregon. In 1990, Doug and his family moved to Astoria, Oregon. He enjoyed living in Astoria near the ocean. It was here that he and Vicki raised their boys, and he participated in their Boy Scouts adventures. He valued education and helped to facilitate their further education at the University of Oregon. He was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church and active with the Knights of Columbus. During his career, he had several deployments, including Alaska, Honduras, Italy and Iraq. After 30 years of dedicated service to the Air National Guard, he retired in 2015.

Doug was an avid reader and student of history. He enjoyed golfing, hiking and cooking up an awesome barbecue. He was an honorable man; intelligent, thoughtful, respectful, considerate, positive, good natured, encouraging, always very welcoming and willing to lend a hand.

Doug is survived by his wife Vicki, sons Andrew and Nathan, brothers Don (Barbara), Dan, and Ted (Audrey), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dave.

Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
