IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dale Turner
Webster
January 10, 1950 – October 2, 2025
Dale Turner Webster, 75, of Astoria, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2025, with Carol, his loving wife of 54 years and his devoted brother, Douglas, both by his side. Dale is also survived by a nephew, Brian Webster and his sons, Khan and Cash, of Modesto, CA. His extended family includes a brother-in-law, Alan Grant (Vicki), niece Tiffany Larson (Will), and son Noah and daughter Olivia of Mesa, AZ, and a sister-in-law, Janice Grant, of Cross Plains, WI. All loved him dearly.
Dale was born on January 10, 1950 in Reno, Nevada. The family moved several times to various states before settling in California. After his parents’ divorce, Dale, being the eldest child, often took on the responsibility of looking after his younger brothers until they were separated and placed in foster care. So even at an early age, he displayed a kind and generous heart, with a special soft spot for children.
Dale’s career first started working alongside his father in the parts department of a Ford dealership in Oakland, CA, then moving on to other Ford dealerships in the California bay area. In 1977 after moving to Astoria, OR, he again worked in various parts and vehicle related jobs until 1982, when he started his own business, Columbia Motor Parts and Hardware. For the next 38 years until his retirement in 2021, he served the greater Knappa Svensen rural area, always ready with advice, a helping hand and a hot cup of coffee.
Outside of work, Dale also contributed to his community for 18 years as a volunteer firefighter for the Knappa Svensen Burnside Brownsmead Fire Dept. After a short break, he then served for another 11 years as a board member, until declining health recently forced him to resign. Dale enjoyed playing with or working on anything with a motor, first riding motorcycles in his younger years, then later restoring classic cars, usually Fords, or just tinkering in his garage. He was a member of the Lower Columbia Classics Car Club for 25 years. He also had a passion for playing basketball and golf, and watching football. And he truly loved his many dog companions who gave him much joy.
Dale will be deeply missed by his family and very special friends, Cindy Peake and Jim Smith, as well as his many other dear friends, all with wonderful memories to tell for years to come. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Claudia Esmond Webster, and a younger brother, Daniel.
Special thanks for compassionate care go to Dr. Aaron Brown, as well as the many Knappa Svensen Fire volunteers, caregivers Rob and Payton, and staffs of Providence home health and CMH palliative care and hospice.
A celebration of Dale’s life will be held in the near future. In the meantime, the family would appreciate friends sharing their favorite stories and memories on the Caldwell-Murphy Mortuary’s website (caldwellmurphy.com). Donations in Dale’s memory can be made to his favorite 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, the Knappa Firefighters Association (43114 Hillcrest Loop, Astoria, OR 97103) or Guide Dogs for the Blind (P.O. Box 3950, San Rafael, CA 94912-3950).
