Judith Kivisto 'Judy' Josephson, 71, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Svensen, died Monday, March 8, 2010, in Vancouver.

She was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Astoria, to Evelyn and Toivo Kivisto. The family moved to Svensen in 1947.

In 1956, she graduated from Knappa High School. She attended Oregon State College for one year, majoring in home economics.

On April 25, 1959, she married Dennis Josephson in Astoria. He preceded her in death June 25, 2007.

Family members said that when she was young, she was very involved in 4-H for many years. She sewed, knitted, crocheted and cooked meals and baked desserts. She loved animals. She had a cow, lamb, rabbits and chickens, which she entered in the fair. She also loved flowers, and her yard was always beautiful.

She is survived by a son, Alec Josephson of Camas, Wash.; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Charles Wright of Vancouver; three grandchildren, Ryan and Stephanie Josephson of Camas and Alec Josephson Jr. of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Charlotte Vlastelicia and her husband, John, of Scappoose and Patty Kivisto and her companion, Mike Jones, of Astoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory A. Josephson, Nov. 26, 2009.

A graveside service and vault interment will be held at noon Saturday, March 20 at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton. A reception will follow at the Warrenton Community Center, 170 SW Third St. in Warrenton.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Knappa Schools Foundation, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. Astoria, OR 97103.
