Deanna Mark passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, after a heroic fight against early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Astoria, Oregon, to William “Bill” Hunt and Lucille “Lucy” Hunt. Her father and mother were the light that fueled her faith. She was always very active in the Catholic Church. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and also taught a De Sales religious course. She was also a Eucharistic minister.
Deanna graduated from Knappa High School and received her college degree from Gonzaga University in sociology and psychology. While attending Gonzaga, she was active in student government and was also a cheerleader.
Deanna married Ron Mark on Feb. 26, 1966, after being childhood sweethearts. Deanna and Ron celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year. They lived in Eastern Oregon and enjoyed life with their three daughters.
Deanna’s accolades include: Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges; counselor, teacher and volleyball coach at Weston McEwen High School in Athena, Oregon; the Board of Directors of the mental health service board in Morrow County; paralegal; active supporter of local 4-H clubs and Riverside High School’s Future Farmers of America Club where she donated livestock for their projects. And, if you were to ask anyone what her greatest accomplishment was, they would all agree she was an amazing mother, wife and friend. Her caring and loving heart shined bright every day.
Deanna is survived by her husband Ron; her three daughters, Tiffany (Mark) Zaba, Michelle Mark and Lisa (Mark) Isley; her son-in-law Kevin Zaba; and her four beautiful granddaughters, Natalie Zaba, Sophie Zaba, Mallory Isley and Maggie Isley. She is also survived by her siblings, Pudgy, Tubby, Danny and Anita.
Deanna is also survived by her loving caregiver for eight years, Aggie Peavey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucy Hunt, and her oldest brother, Billy Hunt.
There will be a vigil at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Funeral Home, Monday, Aug. 8, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at St. Francis De Sales in Hammond, Oregon.
