April 15, 1931 — July 21, 2015

Edward (Ed) Labiske Jr. was born in Astoria, Ore., April 15, 1931, to Edward Labiske Sr. and Anna Christina Labiske (Hansen).

He graduated from Astoria High School and married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Lee Shoop, on Sept. 30, 1951. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2013. Ed and Dee spent much of their married life together residing on various fish hatcheries around the state of Oregon and raising their three children.

Ed is survived by his three children, Cindy and Tom Peake of Astoria, Ore., David and Belinda Labiske of Milwaukie, Ore., and Bob Labiske and his partner, Theresa Bengston, of Salem, Ore. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris and Leah Campbell, John and Beth Campbell, Emily Campbell, Antigone Chapogas and her fiancé, Michael Rivers, and Alexia and Daniel Puderbaugh; and six great-grandchildren, Rylyn, Jenna, Asher, Claire, Brenna and Avery. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Shoop, and his partner Darla.

Ed loved anything to do with fishing. His happiest days were spent on the riverbank with a rod and reel in his hand. He also liked hunting and gardening. After retiring from hatchery life Ed and Dee traveled, pulling a travel trailer and visiting areas throughout the U.S. and Canada. Ed’s favorite place to be was wherever Dee was.
