Darrell Eugene Rush

Darrell E. Rush, age 80, of Seaside , died March 19, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Darrell was born to Harvey and Irma Rush on December 3, 1933, in Fort Collins, CO. He graduated from Tillamook High School in 1951 and joined the Air Force in 1952, where he spent 4 proud years and worked his way up to staff sergeant. Upon returning to Tillamook, Darrell met and married his wife, Evelyn Hiebert, and they later relocated to Seaside, OR. Darrell had a long and successful career in the grocery business, and was very proud of his accomplishments as a store manager. Over the years, he was a member of the original board of directors for the Seaside Convention Center, playing a role in its planning and construction. He was actively involved with the Seaside Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Seaside Elks Lodge and the Astoria Golf and Country Club. Darrell enjoyed coaching his two boys in Little League baseball as well as attending school events of his three children. He was an active member of the Assembly of God Church in Seaside, serving as deacon until his death. What he enjoyed the most in life was his family. The holidays and family get-togethers were what he lived for. Darrell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Rush, his children Jana Borst of Vernonia, Marc Rush and his wife Kim of Warrenton, and Steve Rush and his wife Darla of Astoria. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Jesse Borst of Vernonia, Joe Rush of Astoria, Hilary Rush of Portland, Jordan Rush of Astoria, Jeff Rush of Seaside, Wendy Coffee of Portland, Taylor Fox of Astoria and Cody Fox of Astoria. More blessings came with seven great-grandchildren, Maika, Leilani, Toby, Brook, Piper, Breezy and Bella. Darrell also leaves behind a brother Gary Rush of Las Vegas, NV, a brother Loryn Rush of Edmunds, WA, and a sister Beverly Dahl of Las Vegas, NV, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, and a brother Lowell Rush. A funeral service will be held at the Seaside Assembly of God Church on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at the Sons of Norway Lodge in Gearhart, OR. The family would like to request that friends with fun or special stories of Darrell to please write them down and bring them to the celebration after the service.
