Delores Arlene Wangen, 75, of Astoria, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, in Astoria.
She was born April 26, 1937, in Astoria, to Harvey A. and Gudlaug Hatley Pilgard.
Raised in Astoria, she graduated from Astoria High School in 1955. She starting working at Steinbocks Pharmacy and at the 88 Cents store in Astoria for a few years.
She married Martin Wangen in Astoria. They divorced in 1980.
After marrying, Mrs. Wangen was a stay-at-home mother. She and her husband bought Cavalier Court Rentals east of Astoria, and owned and operated the rentals from 1975 to 1980. In 1980, she moved back into the city of Astoria and worked in the seafood canneries until she retired in 1983.
Family members said she was very artistic, and loved to draw. She enjoyed home decorating, ceramics and music. She loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Michael Wangen of Astoria; a daughter, Lori Wangen of Knappa; three grandchildren, Robert Wangen and his wife, Molly, of Astoria, and Carrie Calderon and her husband, Jonathan, and Tyler Flavin, all of Knappa; a great-grandchild, Baylee Calderon of Astoria; two sisters, Inez Pinkstaff of Astoria and Carol Hartstrom of Eugene; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Pilgard; and a sister, Elenor Swenson-Nephew.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.
Private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Astoria.
