Mary B. Jenkins, 98, former longtime resident of Grandview, WA, passed away on May 18, 2012 in Astoria OR.
Mary was born November 9, 1913, the third child of Ethel and John Bradley, in Yonkers, NY. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Tarrytown, NY.
In 1942, Mary moved to Washington DC, where she met a young sailor, Charles G. Jenkins. They were married in April 1943. When Charles finished his enlistment with the Navy, they relocated to Washington State, where Mary remained until August 2011.
Mary was a loving Mom and raised seven children. She enjoyed her Irish heritage and had a beautiful smile. She was quick of wit and loved playing Scrabble, Crazy Rummy and doing crossword puzzles.
Mary is survived by her children: Chuck (& Mariann) of Lynden, WA; Ed (& Caloha) of Grandview, WA; Rich of Buckley, WA; Doris (& Bob) Conley of Renton, WA; Margaret (& Bill) Antilla of Astoria, OR; Bob (& Marie) of Long Beach, WA and Pam Jenkins of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and her Irish pen pal Jean.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sisters; her husband, Charles; her son, Bill; and her grandson, Eric.
A celebration of life will be held on May 26, 2012 at Caldwell’s Mortuary in Astoria beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Clatsop Care Center or Lower Columbia Hospice, both in Astoria, OR.
Arrangements are under the direction of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary.
