David Dewayne Menken Sr.

David Dewayne Menken Sr., 63, of Cannon Beach, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Cannon Beach.

He was born May 1, 1948, in Coos Bay, to George M. and Edith I. (Drake) Menken.

He was raised in Coos Bay.

Mr. Menken was a Clatsop County resident for 11 years. He worked at the Mariner Market in Cannon Beach before his retirement.

His hobbies included gardening and woodworking. Family members said he was a good neighbor and friend to anyone who needed help or to borrow a tool. He also was a protector of all wildlife.

He is survived by his partner Lucinda Hayes of Cannon Beach; a son, David Menken Jr. and his wife, Misty, of Philomath; a daughter, Stacy Mackmer-Townsend and her partner, Terri Townsend, of Vancouver, Wash.; a stepson, Jon Hayes of Vancouver; a stepdaughter, Susan Hayes of Wilsonville; a brother, Steve Menken of La Pine; a sister, Kathy Strickler of Coos Bay; and four grandchildren, James Mackmer Jr. of Minot, N.D., Ethan Church of Vancouver and Sarah Hayes and Matthew Scheevel, both of Portland.

Mr. Menken requested that there be no funeral.
