Russell George Adams, age 77, of Svensen, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Clatskanie. He was born Oct. 22, 1933, in West Orange, Calif., to Charles and Lily (Skiles) Adams. He attended school in Escalon, Calif. He was Drafted into the U.S. Army, and served from Dec. 15, 1954 to Dec. 14, 1956. In the early 1950s, he married Marilyn Mason in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death in the late 1990s. On Oct. 22, 2004, he married JoAnn Atkerson Clark in Walnut Creek, Calif. She survives, residing in Svensen and Clatskanie. Mr. Adams worked at a glass plant for 10 years. He then worked at Wiebell Winery in Mission San Jose, Calif., for one year, HLH Trucking Co. in Antioch, Calif., for 18 years, and 13 years for West Coast Salvage in San Francisco. In 2005, he moved to Svensen. Family members said his hobbies included riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, traveling, attending church and spending time with family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shirley Adams of Suisun City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Latisha Trimble and her husband, Spencer, and Joshua Adams and his wife, Emmy, all of Brentwood, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Dorothy Adams of Sebastapol, Calif., and Jack and Mary Adams of Modesto, Calif.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Richard Disly of San Jose, Calif. A memorial will be held at Knappa Assembly of God Church at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knappa Assembly of God Memorial Fund, 41767 Old Highway 30, Astoria, OR 97103.
