Ruth H. Isaacson, age 82, of Hammond, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, in Hammond. She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Ishpeming, Mich., to Basilius and Judith Julia (Korpela) Hamari. She married Clifford Edwin Isaacson. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran church for many years. Family members said she enjoyed playing the organ, sewing, reading and travel. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Steve Buchanan of Hillsboro and Lora and Ron Jefferies of Sagle, Idaho; a son, David E. Isaacson of Hammond; six grandchildren, Brittany and Steven Buchanan of Hillsboro, Lydia Isaacson and Audrey Osisiosu and her husband, Ephraim, all of Manor, Texas, Caleb Isaacson of Vernonia and Lacy Jefferies of Sagle; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Landon Osisiosu of Manor; and two sisters, Lillian Baeten of Astoria and Florence Junes of Portland. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, where she will be interred. Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria is in charge of the arrangements.
